Rapid-I looks back on a successful year 2011

Successful Year 2011: Rapid-I holds top position in the market for open source business analytics.

A range of new partners and customers as well as a positive response to RapidAnalytics and the Marketplace give enterprise top position in the open source market for data mining.

Dortmund, 16. January 2012 - Rapid-I, a leading provider of open source solutions for predictive analytics, data mining and text mining, is looking back on a successful business year 2011. The enterprise has won over numerous new clients and partners and achieved a significant sales increase in the area of support/licenses.

Business relations with major existing customers such as Sanofi-Aventis or the German Telecom were successfully strengthened and built on last year. The list of new customers for RapidMiner includes Tchibo, PayPal, Total and Daimler FleetBoard. After enjoying success with RapidMiner, Sanofi-Aventis and GfK among others opted in 2011 for the analysis server solution RapidAnalytics, which was launched at the end of 2010. Australian energy trader Metro Power was another new customer for RapidAnalytics.

Rapid-I also extended its international partner network greatly in the last 12 months: Partnerships were sealed with KSK Solutions (Japan), the Signal Processing Laboratory (SPLab) as a subdivision of the University of Technology in Brno, United Consult in Hungary, Datalytics for South America and Microsystem (Chile).

Rapid-I improved its product range consistently in 2011 and added numerous extensions. The IMMI extension enables the solutions RapidMiner and RapidAnalytics to analyse images and evaluate the content of image files. Some further developments by Rapid-I and the open source community were information extraction for the relational evaluation of text components, instance selection, anomaly detection for revealing irregularities in data as well as the data mining assistant, which gives the analyst suggestions for improvement with the aim of optimising analysis processes.

RapidAnalytics is now on its way to becoming the enterprise’s most successful product: The first real businesses analytics server based on open source was already installed over 20,000 times in the first year. Rapid-I is therefore optimally positioned for future growth and is able to address the topic of big data, which is becoming ever more important. Moreover, the first marketplace for algorithms was created with the Marketplace; at present it is running in the beta version, but it will go into the release phase in the coming weeks.

The annual user conference RCOMM, which took place in Dublin in 2011, was again the subject of considerable interest. Participants were given practical information for using Rapid-I solutions in numerous talks and workshops. There was also the possibility of obtaining a certificate for expertise in RapidMiner and RapidAnalytics. There are currently around 80 certified Rapid-I analysts.

“2011 continued to strengthen our business success. We are particularly pleased about the exceedingly positive response we received for the Marketplace and RapidAnalytics” emphasises Dr. Ingo Mierswa, managing director of Rapid-I. “The new year will be a true year of international expansion. There will also be a new version of RapidMiner and we will of course be giving our worldwide partner network a greater push so that we can always offer the best service to our customers around the globe.”
