RapidMiner (formerly YALE) is available in different flavours:
the open-source version licensed under the GPL which can be used
by everyone for free, another free version including an improved
graphical user interface, and a proprietary version which can be
used by commercial developers where the open-source license does
not suit their needs.
Please check the explanations below to learn about these versions.

Stable Release: RapidMiner 4.0
Patches
Please note: The following patches are necessary for the previous version
RapidMiner 4.0 only.
RapidMiner 4.1beta has these patches already integrated.
A small bug in RapidMiner 4.0 prevents the process wizard and the building blocks from working correctly. Furthermore, the Weka library was added to the recommended free non-GPL version by accident. Windows users should download and executate the file rapidminer-patch-4.0.0.1.exe (70 kb) after the installation of RapidMiner. This will automatically install the patch at the correct position.
Users of other platforms or of the GPL version have to perform these three simple steps:
- Download the file rapidminer-patch-4.0.0.1.zip (7 kb)
- Unzip the downloaded file in the main directory of RapidMiner
- Overwrite the template files into the directory etc/templates and etc/buildingblocks of your RapidMiner installation directory, e.g. into C:\Program Files\RapidMiner\RapidMiner-4.0\etc\.... Users of the non-GPL version: Please make also sure that you remove the file lib/weka.jar.
